The Noordkade in Waddinxveen is undergoing a transformation from a mixed-use industrial area into a vibrant residential and work district. This project builds on the area's industrial heritage and landscape qualities. In collaboration with the Municipality of Waddinxveen and key landowners, an urban development vision has been created, which was approved by the municipal council in January 2022.
The Definitive Urban Development Plan (DOSP) and the Image Quality Plan (BKP) serve as the framework for redevelopment. The Noordkade will become a sustainable, green, and dynamic urban district with approximately 1,500 homes, mobility hubs, and public facilities. Through an adaptive plan, future developments can be flexibly integrated. Public spaces will be designed as attractive, climate-resilient, and biodiverse environments where living, working, and recreation harmoniously come together.
